Service Provision
After initial
assessment and walking cast assessment has been completed, a report on the most
appropriate treatment option will be provided to the client and medical
specialist as appropriate. Direct clinical service provision will commence after
the client has agreed to the treatment modality and funding has been approved
for the service.
NeuroMuscular Orthotics can provide the full spectrum of lower extremity orthoses. To review our orthosis range, please click on the above link "Orthoses".
Clinical service provision
involves the skilled use of sterilised instruments and appropriate infection
control procedures. In the majority of cases, a plaster or fibreglass cast will
be taken of the affected lower limb segment along with appropriate
measurements/circumferences. The negative mould will be filled with
plaster and a positive model will be used to manufacture an orthosis that is
custom made to your body.
Foot health and footwear education regarding self care techniques and prevention
of foot pathology is an important component of individual care. Advice will also
be given on appropriate footwear which must accommodate the client's lower
extremity orthosis.
