Following its release in the USA in 2002, the Stance Control Orthotic Knee™ Joint (SCOKJ™) is now available in Australia. Gary Horton, a Certified Orthotist from Horton O&P in Little Rock Arkansas, developed this innovative knee joint in conjunction with a team of selected specialists.

Designed for patients with weak or absent quadriceps and varying degrees of knee instability, this lightweight orthosis will allow patients to regain their mobility and assist them in a more energy-efficient ambulation. Features of the Horton SCOKJ include:

• Prevents knee collapse regardless of flexion

• Lightweight materials

• High Durability

• Automatic lock at heel strike; free motion during swing phase

• Provides three operating modes: Automatic Stance Control, Free Motion & Manual Lock  

• Suitable for metal, thermoplastic, laminated, and hybrid orthoses  

• Fabrication and adjustments are straight forward and require no expensive tooling  

• Can be used with bilateral knee paralysis or paresis

• Stance Control can be triggered by weight bearing or joint motion according to patient needs
