Case Management

Neuromuscular Orthotics specialises in the orthotic management of complex lower limb neuromuscular pathology. We strive to provide evidence based health care and often provide case management for clients who require holistic care from a team of health professionals.

If a client presents with a neuromuscular or an orthopaedic deficit which falls beyond the scope of our practice, Neuromuscular Orthotics will refer you to a prosthetic/orthotic colleague who may be in a better position to manage your problem.

A neuromuscular deficit may also present a problem whereby the skin/orthosis contact forces may be too large and possibly expose that client to skin breakdown. In this instance, Neuromuscular Orthotics may possibly refer you back to your General Practitioner or Medical Specialist for an Orthopaedic opinion.

In some instances, we may also postpone a client's orthotic management if swelling (edema) is present in the affected lower extremity.
